Mike Stoller
Half of the world renowned songwriting and record producing team of Leiber & Stoller, Mike Stoller and his musical partner Jerry Leiber started writing songs in 1950 for such artists as Jimmy Witherspoon, Charles Brown, Amos Milburn, "Big Mama" Thornton, Ruth Brown, Little Esther, Little Willie Littlefield, and The Robins. Leiber and Stoller also wrote and/or produced for over 22 previous R&B Foundation Pioneer Award Honorees including Ben E, King, The Isley Brothers, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, James Brown, Little Richard and B.B.King. In 1955, the duo signed the first-ever independent record production deal with Atlantic Records and have since written and produced over 100 Billboard-charting records. "Smokey Joe's Café", a show which features 40 Leiber and Stoller songs, became the longest-running musical revue in Broadway history.
